Exciting Guest!!! - rides2farHey guys, Just got a phonecall from Gene Glasscock, the Long Rider who is riding his horses 20,000 miles visiting all the state capitals in the lower 48. He is almost in Atlanta (God help him) and I need to talk to riders who are on his route. He is headed south on Hwy. 19 The Georgia towns he will be traveling through are: (ignore spelling he was calling them out on a cell phone and I jotted in shorthand) Griffen Zebulen Thoomasin Butler Ellaville Americas Smithville Leesburg Albany He's traveling around 20 miles per day. If you are on his route (wish I was!) and would be interested in giving him a place to stay over you can write me with a contact number. I asked him if I could post to you all and he said O.K. he'd call me in a few days to get any I had to give. He sounded like the *nicest* man. His ride is raising money to sponsor students from Paraguay to attend a missionary school in Pensacola (?) After crossing into FLA. he'll be on hwy 319 headed for Tallahassee. After that on up to Montgomery. He said he has no plans where to stay...jut lets the Lord take care of it. He didn't ask, but didn't turn it down. The Long Rider's page has a journal where many people he has stayed with tell about their experience. I hope the endurance riders will take advantage of a chance to meet him. He has already ridden a QH from I think Alaska to the equator (12,000 miles). What a chance to hear some great stories! By the way, I need someone who can meet up with Gene, at least a week south of Atlanta 150 miles or so, to let me ship some bridles that Patti from Canada is sending to Gene. He's not an easy guy to get in front of! I didn't think to ask him if he had a place to spend Christmas. P.S. When he goes west he plans to cover the Tevis trail and would love for riders to join him...maybe August.
