RE: [RC] Who REALLY knows ? - David LeBlancHeidi Smith said: And I don't think Sarah Miller has ever ridden with a GPS--but I'm a real piker, because I can only come within about 10 minutes of predicting when I should be at the next vet check, and she can usually get it down to about a 2-3 minute window, just looking at her watch... :-) Who'da thunk it?? I think some people just have a knack for it. I'm good at doing math in my head, and from enough rides where I knew it was some number of miles to a certain water trough, I could figure the pace. What's really good for this one is Prineville where there are mile markers. After enough of this, you get pretty good at estimating pace. OTOH, my wife, who has a lot more riding experience than I do, has very little idea of her pace. I think the gadget might be a good thing for her. Hey - if you're not good at it naturally, why not get a gadget? Of course, being male, I've only rarely met a gagdet that wasn't interesting 8-) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
