Re: [RC] New Riders - proposals - correction - Truman PrevattDepending on region and trail that's pretty unrealistic. In FL CTR's are run faster than that for 25 miles - 3:45 to 4:30 on trail time. For 50's I can name many rides where dinner would be started by the time they finished :-). That can also put 50's out there too long in the heat of the day when there have been times that riding too long in the heat of the day was the cause of problems. At a ride a few years ago it was the last riders on the trail that got into trouble. The vet told every one to go a little faster the second day so they could get more trail out of the way in the cool part of the day and not have to spend so much time out in the hottest part of the day. His belief was they rode went too slow early and ended up over stressing their horses from the heat later in the day.I think the ideal is okay, but this implementation would be a nightmare for ride managers. How about for the first so many rides - they are only eligible for completion - no placing. That would also probably drive ride managers up the wall.
