Subject: [RC] Locating Lost Horses

My grandparents are in their 80's and have a fairly
large house with a big garage, yard, and woodshop for
my grandpa. Since my grandma hates wandering all over
trying to find him (and he's mostly deaf), she makes
him wear a doorbell. They bought it at Home Depot or
Lowes and it's designed to be a mobile (wireless)
unit. It's the ringing unit, about 2" x 2" and has a
clip on the back. Grandma then keeps the "button"
that you would mount outside your door on the kitchen
counter. When she need Grandpa, she pushes the button
and the bell rings. It's loud enough for him to hear
it and works with a range of several 100 yards and
through walls.

I imagine this would work for lost horses as well.
Just throw the ringing unit in your saddle packs, etc
and keep the button (sending) unit on your person.
The bell is plenty loud but not so obnoxious a sound
to readily startle a horse I imagine. Plus they are
already available on the market and very inexpensive.

Crysta & Sinatra - great mom, now I'm going to really
be a ding-dong!
