Dolly and I spoke (and cried together) at
length last night. We talked about our appreciation for the blessing (and
obligation) bestowed upon us by having known
our extraordinary horses. I lost myTevis Cup winner, Risque Rockette, last February ? age 27. Karahty sired
four of Risky?s foals. All possess stunning beauty, a love for the trail, the
curiosity to see what?s over the next hill, a pride that drives their
competitive spirit and an intense affection for their rider. Every ride on
horses like these feels like a gift not to be squandered. If more
riders realized they were competing on horses like Risky and Karahty, we would not have to have
this debate about how to protect the welfare of the horse. No rider would ever
be tempted to squander such a precious gift!
