Re: [RC] Treatment for Scratches - Vicki AustinJeannie, we had a mare a few years ago that started to have scraches. I used the old tried and true remadies ( azium powder, furicin mixture) plus the (cattle wormer dmso, furicin mixture) and it contunued to get worse. It got so bad it was bleeding. I tried everything the vets gave me, every mixture of putrid stuff that they could conjour up, every sarve, wash, scrub, wrap, sweat and nothing would work. This went on almost a year, with it seeminly to get marginally better and then flair up again. I finally gave up and said " I don't know what else to do so I will just keep it dry" I thought of what would be soothing for me if that was happening to me so I put Gold Bond (blue) on every day and just kept it dry. Lo and behold it dissapperaed!!!! Now when I suspect she is getting the greasy feeling in her heel area I put the powder on and it goes away. We haven't had a problem with it ever again and it has been seven years since she has had a problem with this. So for me it is Gold Bond (blue). That is my remedy. Hope this helps. Could someone please describe again the scratches...and the treatment... Thanks.... __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
