[RC] problems in Arabs and Great Danes & kids - rides2farMy mom was told by a Great Dane breeder that certain lines in Danes have genetic predispositions to a disorder that causes shaking in the limbs. He also said that there is something like it or the same syndrome in certain Arab lines? I've known one horse that would stand and shake at a competition. He was there to win and very competitive...this was years ago and the horse would have been called *skinny* now. However, I'm curious about the answers you get to this post (so am replying to RC) because my daughter does it during a basketball game. She had a game yesterday...her best ever, was high scorer and very "hot" hitting quite a few outside shots. When she'd come in during time outs the other girls were pointing out how badly her hands were shaking. When she sad down her knees were jumping. I told them she's "just idleing fast" and told her it was just adrenaline. So...could it be the same thing? Don't know that it's genetic. Her dad is the equivalent of a rental horse in temperament >eg< and I only idle fast after about 5 cups of coffee. Seems to me that an endurance horse that's quivering at a competition (but doesn't standing around at home) would not be the same as a Chihuahua that shivers constantly.
