RE: [RC] trailers (which way to face horses) - David LeBlancTypef said: Well, now isn't that interesting! The very first time I took my Mustang away in the trailer was to the trainers. When we arrived there, she was indeed facing backwards! I thought it was very strange at the time. Obviously, it's not strange at all. We have a 4 horse stock trailer, which amounts to 2 box stalls. When there's only one horse per stall, they usually end up travelling slantwise with their hind end forwards. If you think about it, it makes sense, esp. in a windy stock trailer - horses normally stand with their butts to the wind. BTW, to the person who commented about slant loads and lameness - our big trailer is a slant load, and we trailered 2-3 horses about 8000 miles this year. We only had problems with lameness once, and that was with a horse that had an injury and we didn't know it. Turned out the trailer ride caused the problem to show up unmistakably. IMHO, if I had a horse that came up lame from a trailer ride, regardless of what sort of trailer, I'd get a vet to look into it. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
