[RC] [Guest] Precision Saddle Fitting Event in North Carolina:November 14 - Ridecamp Moderator

The ReactorPanel Saddle Company, manufacturer of the adjustable, flexible panel RP saddle, invites the public to attend a day of saddle fitting assessment and evaluation on Friday, November 14th, at the home & farm of Dr. Joy Baker, DVM. 139 Baker Drive, Tryon, NC. Computer pressure testing and analysis session will be from 11:00 to 3:00, informal tea from 3:00 to 4:00. A lecture on saddle fitting and related issues will be from 4:00 to 6:30. Guest lecturer Dr. Joyce Harman, DVM, owner of Harmany Equine Clinic, is a renowned veterinary chiropractor & acupuncturist. Dr. Harman finds the best approach for the horse is a team approach involving veterinarians, therapists, farriers, dentists, riding instructors and saddle experts. She has published over forty articles in professional journals and more than that in lay magazines. A number of equine magazines have also featured her work. She was president of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association in 1998 and 1999.

Topics that may be covered during the lecture:
-Methods for assessing fit, and the elements of good fit
-Typical problems with saddles, and the issues they induce in the horse
-How to recognize other issues which may be confused with saddle issues (e.g. hind end issues that may manifest as back pain)
-How to recognize saddle damage (as opposed to natural contours or trauma from other sources)
-Saddle pads: successes and failures in using pads to address fitting issues
