Re: [RC] What is Real Endurance!! - Jim HollandIt's somewhat of a rudimentary description and removes all the "glamor", but why would anyone flame you on that? It's certainly true. To quote one of my least favorite people, "no pain, no gain". <grin> The only think I would add is the "pain" from spending a time on the GROUND instead of on the HORSE. The HARDER the ride, the more return on your "investment". JMHO. Personally, I would like to see ALL the rides over the hardest terrain possible. Flat rides are boring and you never learn anything about yourself or your horse. Ride the hard ones and you will learn what "suck it up" amd "reading your horse" means. My favorite rides are Old Dominion, Leatherwood, Longstreet's Charge, and Biltmore...and up at Rudy's Ranch where the 2000 and 2001 NCR were held. Gimme a ride where you HAVE to get off and tail and run down hills and I'm happy! Jim, Sun of Dimanche+ and Mahada Magic Teri wrote: Lets look at this in a logical way.... Definitions. ENDURANCE - The ability to last, stand pain etc. ENDURE - To hold up under pain, fatiuge.. etc. RIDE - To be carried along by a horse, carriage, etc. AERC states that an Endurance ride is 50 miles. But it does not state that you are a true endurance rider only if you do 50 or more miles. An endurance rider is the ability to last, stand pain while being carried along by a horse. I do expect to be flamed by those of you whom have no common sense so bring it on....
