[RC] Back to the real thread - Dot WigginsThanks, Roxi, for reminding us where this started. For all the number crunchers out there------How many of the pulls, crashes, and horse deaths were new horses/riders? How many were experienced riders and high milage fit horses? I still think we need to find out everything possible, from before, long before, during, and after, any time a horse is pulled, or treated post ride. How can we prevent deaths and crashes if we don't have all the factors? Back to the old question, fence at the top of the cliff or ambulance at the bottom. All the rules in the world for newbie LDs will have no effect on deaths and crashes at the PanAms and other high profile rides. All the "sanctions" and "suspensions" won't bring back a single horse. We need information on a long list of items about the horses that crash and those that compete at the same levels under the same conditions with no problems. Let's work on ways to gather knowledge and quit fussing about "stuff" that doesn't help. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
