Re: [RC] [AERC-Members] coordinates for "the edge" - Susan GarlinghouseLocal clinics where people that are interested ( I sure hope every endurance rider would be interested ) meet and the > material presented and discussed by a knowledgeable individual is the best way to provide education. I think this is the crux of the matter. The education needs to be disseminated better. I don't mean that as a criticism of the current efforts (especially since I'm part of it), just a wish that more be done. Maybe funding could be available to provide knowledgeable speakers? I know that this has GOT to be an issue---AERC currently provides the hotel room and a fairly minimal ($250) honorarium for convention speakers, which doesn't even cover travel expenses for most of us living more than 100 miles away. Those of us that are going to go anyway, fine. But, there are a plethora of wonderful speakers that can't or won't travel without at least their expenses being covered. Perhaps we should address a fund being organized (corporate backing, maybe??) to underwrite travel expenses for qualified speakers to get to clinics on the local level. Just a thought.
