[RC] gut sounds at vet-in - SaatchiHello everyone, I've read some of the archives re: gut sounds, but I admit I haven't read them thoroughly. I hope you'll indulge me on this question even if it is repetitive: I'm new this year to the sport of endurance, and have successfully (meaning I completed... :)) competed in one 25 mile and one 55 mile ride. At the vet-in at both rides I noticed that I got a B+ on my mare's gut sounds. I asked the vet if I needed to worry about this and she said not so long as my mare begins to eat and drink, which she did eventually. My question is this: Are there any "tricks" to improving my mare's gut sounds before vetting in? For example, should I wait until she eats and drinks before taking her in to vet? She's quite a looky-lucy, so it takes her some time to calm down and eat and/or drink when she first gets off the trailer. She eats really well on the trailer, but my guess is that since she doesn't drink right away, her gut sounds aren't as good as they should be. During the ride she's all about business and looks after herself really well - thank goodness! Any info. would be greatly appreciated. Layla.
