[RC] crooked riding - a new thought - Karen Clanin

i'd like to bring something into this discussion as food for thought to many of you.

whether you are riding straight or crooked, try paying attention to your SEAT BONES when trying this experiment.

ride like many with reins in one hand. feel more weight on the seat bone in your butt on that side than on the other?

ride with one rein in each hand. feel the weight evenly distributed on both sides of your butt?

heck, i can feel the difference just sitting here in my desk chair, hold one hand out like you are holding the reins in one hand, and then put both hands out like riding 2 handed. feel the difference?

putting more weight one one side due reins in one hand can take you crooked after a time, but think of how the uneven weight on your butt can affect your horse's back and his gait.
