Re: [RC] [RC] Jockeys (was Riding Cavalry) - Maryanne Stroud Gabbani

Can only talk about what is practiced in this part of the world and "crew" is not the term for it. Entourage, retinue, babysitters. trail flatteners....any and all of those apply. Just once I'd like to see one of the guys from the Gulf with a hoofpick....

I personally don't know of anyone who does 100's without designated crew

There are lots of us! It was a special treat when riding FEI to have
crew! More than I wanted really..........

By "designated crew" I meant that one extra person who sets out the
feedstuff, gets the e'lyte syringes ready, untacks and sponges (or blankets,
depending on the weather) the horse while the rider dashes for the potty or
a clothes change (and watches all inflows and outgoes to report to the
rider), and maybe trots out the horse so the rider can watch with the vet.
LOL! I wasn't talking about "crew" in the FEI sense. DG
