Re: [RC] Winter Coats - rwatts<< My horse is more shiny in the winter, as in the summer his coat gets sunburned. I do not know if this can be changed as my horse has free access too pasture & stall, at all times. Would love to know though!!>> You might try Gold as Sun or Black as Knight (for chestnut or bay/black, respectively). Their advertising says it prevents sunburning/fading of the coat, and it does seem to work. I had my bay on it last year, and she stayed dark and heavily dappled no matter how long she was out; ditto for the older chestnut, who stayed a deep rich bronze rather than fading. Tried another supplement this year, and while that one had some effect (as compared to previous years) it was not as noticeable as when they were on the Cheval International coat supplements. <g> Depends on how valuable the coat color is to you! (It was for me since I was showing.) Also, the same company that puts out Qwik-Braid has a product that you spray on a clean, dry coat and is supposed to prevent fading for at least several days. Haven't tried it, just read the advertising. Rhonda =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
