Re: [RC] [RC] [RC] Rider Option - Maggie Mieske<I can't control what other people think of it and I don't care> This is the best attitude to take though I still hate a "pull". :) For any reason. Esp at the END of 50 miles....my thought is that if the horse if gonna hurt himself, he should at least be considerate enough to hurt himself EARLY! :) But they are learning experiences or SHOULD be. We don't need more "codes". I did like someone's suggestion that we follow up on pulls that require TREATMENT...I would think that would provide VERY useful information. By injury I meant things like a cut requiring stitches or medication, or something that the horse should not go down the trail with, but does not cause lameness. A lame horse is a lame horse. I had one at the last ride. Have no idea why. Could be because she stood on a slope in the rain all day on Friday, pulling a shoe on her pen. Could be the slick mud & rocks on trail, even though we walked half the loop. (She never even broke a sweat--this was a babysitting a new horse ride.) I never even asked whether it would be L or ROL, it is what it is. I can't control what other people think of it and I don't care. She was fine the next morning. Nancy MittsFrom: "Maggie Mieske" <mmieske@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> I didn't realize surface factors could mean injuries!! Isn't it L-SF? Or just SF? I don't know if I've ever seen it used yet. Hmmmmm....but there is a stigma, isn't there? Even when we don't care what our pull rate might be, we don't want people to think the worst! :) Miles of smiles, Maggie_________________________________________________________________ Add MSN 8 Internet Software to your existing Internet access and enjoy patented spam protection and more.
