[RC] PAC from LH -The weather here sure has changed!! We were suffering from the high heat a few days ago and now we are bundled up!! It has snowed on the mountain in the high elevations, and rained down here at 2-3000 feet. I am sure the park service is thrilled, but it is a little wet and cold for camping! Stagg Newman in shorts, high socks, boots and and winter hat is a sight.... The east team is all assembled and getting shoes and equipment squared away. We all treked over to the main camp last night and had a great party hosted by Pacific North. The food was outstanding, the wine and margaritas flowed freely and a good time was had. It was very nice of them to do that- and it was great to see others from other regions in such an informal and uncompetitive setting! Tonight the east team is having a ritual bonding in their traditional Yankee swap. I made a rock and pine cone sculpture as my contribution. You aren't neccesarily supposed to tell anyone what you bring, but I figure my secret is safe with RIdecamp- ha!! My husband is arriving tomorrow....I can hardly wait - I was in Spain for WEG for 10 days last year - the longest we had been apart in 12 years, but we have been gone from home two and a half weeks now.... I am still in Mel Sherman's living room to do my reports to you. The window I am in looks out toward the mountain and also takes in the field next door that will be our 5th and 6th vet checks. I am hoping to run over and make a report as soon as Cia leaves the fifth check. Later- LAura Hayes AERC#2741 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
