I asked about it once, and was told it had to do with the kind of impact, height, also to take a direct kick,etc. Bike helmets don't cover as much of the back either (where my daughter got her injury, she went to an international or gpa because they came an inch lower.)

for those who wear helmets --or know about them -- any opinion on
whether a "horse" helmet is better than a "bike" helmet?

I ask because I just read something somewhere (sorry, can't remember)
which said, in relation to "horse" helmets, "this may not be the best
helmet for the job" --which I found rather disturbing!

since those guys on bikes regularly crash at 30+ mph on pavement (joseba
beloki, anyone?), maybe I should be wearing my bike helmet & giving up
my english style headgear ... plus the bike helmet has more vents ...

anyway, interested in opinions, facts, thoughts, whatever.
