Re: Fwd: Re: [RC] claming agents that won't test postive, know any? - heidiThis is to be directed to Ed Hauser of Sisu West Ranch: Licorice is barely known as a calming agent, but it is. My friend cannot eat it because of her pace maker. You don't see any warnings of any kind on the package!!!! So if I feed my horse licorice, and yes she does like it, would you consider that enhancing? If so, then I, myself, "enhance" my performance as well as my children's, as do many other people without even knowing or trying!! I have heard enough of your input! Thank you very much for no help at all!!! Stacy, Ed is just telling you what is in the AERC rules. And yes, stuff like licorice, yucca, caffeine, etc. which can be found in "natural" plants contain various substances that are in effect "drugs" and are ILLEGAL under AERC rules. That is all Ed is trying to tell you. THERE IS NO CALMING SUBSTANCE THAT YOU CAN LEGALLY GIVE YOUR HORSE FOR AN AERC EVENT. Period. We're not picking on you--we're just trying to answer your question in the only way possible--which is to tell you that the solution you are seeking is not legal for competition.
