But there is a "no drugs" policy for the horses. I know what you mean about a horse who gets very rev'ed up when starting out in a group. Riders in your situation often start well back of the pack to avoid the "mad dash" craziness, sometimes waiting 10 or 15 minutes to start after nearly everyone else has gone. If you keep your horse busy, well away from the starting line, it should help.
