[RC] [RC] worts - Kari HanesKarla, These may not be worts at all. We purchased a grey mare last year and she developed what looked like a wart just above her eye, we left it alone and it started growing over the winter. Turns out it was a cancerous tumor. The vet said grey/white horses are prone to skin cancer. My first horse was a gray and over the years we've always had at least one gray in our pasture - we now have three. I had never heard of this being a problem with grays. I would definately have a vet check before purchase. The surgical removal was just over $100 at the clinic, she had to be sedated because it was so close to her eye. The vet also told us it could come back in the same spot or elsewhere. Good luck with your horse search! Kari Montalee Arabians Holton, Michigan I'm looking at at 5 yr old mare that has worts on her nose. She is grey. Is there expense at getting them removed? Should I be concerned? Will they go away on their own? Thanks to all and the vets on this list.
