Re: [RC] breast collar accidents? - Heidi SmithWe have heard from Heidi about " many wrecks caused by breast collars ", and after having horses for 40 years, I must not ride where she does, as I truly have not seen any breast collars cause wrecks, get caught on things etc. etc. Have I just been lucky? Yep. The other entanglements I've seen with breast collars (other than the pickup mirror incident) have been with brush or limbs, and have generally occurred either when horses have spooked off-trail for some reason, or under conditions other than endurance riding (can remember one on a cattle drive, in the brush) when one has to go places other than a trail. The less "stuff" I have on my horse, the less chance he has of getting entangled on ANYTHING, and the safer he is.
