[RC] By-laws Ammendent - April Johnson
I don't think this is a joke or funny. If we (the AERC) are going
to insist that a person be a citizen or resident of the US to be
a voting member, shouldn't we do the verification? Otherwise, go
back to just letting people interested in the sport as it is in the
US be Regular Members. If we're really concerned about non-citizens
and non-residents swaying the vote and the direction of the AERC,
shouldn't we be sure they're not just sending in bogus US addresses,
collecting their ballots and voting?
It's the same as insisting that horses be 5 before doing an endurance
ride. If there is no check for the age of the horse, why have the
rule?
I think this rule about resident aliens is rather beside the point
until we decide whether or not to validate identity. Otherwise, you
resident aliens, just provide your address, pay your money and vote,
who's checking?

Oh, this is getting ridiculous..... Lets just look on the back of
an I-9 and see what is acceptable proof of documents to work in the
US and go by that while we are at it.
