Re: [RC] horse ordinances - A. PerezBarbara's story about the stock yard reminds me of the time about 20 years ago a developer bought one of the piers in Portland Maine and put condo out on the Pier. Soon the people who bought the condos were bitching about the noisey fishing boats going out at dawn, and tried to get an ordinance past barring early morning boat traffic. Should have thought of that before buying a house on a pier in a working harbour - Duh! "I recall a livestock auction yard where we used to sell our calves. It was at the time out in the country, near hills with beautiful oak trees. The neighboring land was subdivided, people built big homes. Then they complained about the smell. It wasn't very long before the auction yard was out of business. I consider this kind of thing absolutely criminal!!
