[RC] [Guest] More 100 Mile Riders - Ridecamp GuestAngie McGhee Rides2far@xxxxxxxx Hi William! Your reputation had already preceeded you. The word is out..that there's an ultra-marathoner in the NE asking all the right questions and approaching endurance in all the right ways. Word is that you're one to watch. I even heard that down here in Georgia.:-)) My own experience with my first 100 was that I had a mentor who helped pace me through it...so on the one hand I agree with your idea. However, when you figure that many 100 mile riders only have all the stars line up correctly for an attempt at a 100 a few times during their horse's career, it's scarey to commit yourself to staying with someone else who may have slept in a few rainy days when you dragged yourself out and trained anyway. When someone asks if they can ride with me I say that I'd love the company *if* our horse's decide to pace together. If their horse's pace doesn't match my horse's I can't afford to adapt to them. If all works out I'd love to mentor someone...but I wouldn't want to alter my gameplan to theirs, or think they were wise to adapt theirs to mine.
