Swanton Pacific 100: Due to
impassable damage to the old route between Waterman Gap and the Old Haul
Road, we have been offered an alternative route that adds 1.5 miles. In
order to avoid going over distance, we are shortening the trail after the
Swanton Vet Check. We've found a route that allows us to retain the full
100 miles, but is considerably gentler than the previous route used for 20
years. This new route eliminates Powerhouse Grade all
together. I'm sure there will be some riders who will miss the
old Powerhouse Grade, as it was the mountain everyone loved to hate, but you'll
just have to shed a tear for the bygone days :-))
So if the difficulty of the old route in the last 6 miles was a big put-off
for any of you, do come by and try out this new route. It's much kinder
and gentler!
