: [RC] Urine color - rides2farHow likely do you really think it is that my horses aren't well hydrated, Jim? Anybody want to have a hydration contest? I have a question about an over-hydrated pony. I've considered taking him to a 25 but he worries me. I've NEVER seen an animal drink like him. He's a lush...and he pees constantly. (think of yourself when you're on an 8 glasses of water diet). He pees clear (I'm sure EXTREMELY diluted straw but looks clear) and pees OFTEN. Maybe twice in a one hour ride sometimes. He's a total pain to have living under your shed because he makes a river. He's 10 yrs. old registered Welsh. Chunky. Predisposed to a cresty neck. Soft and a little overweight but has never had free choice grass or he'd be a lump. Slick with no signs of major hormone problems yet. I'd work him into some shape before taking him to a ride, but I wonder if his hormones are wrong. I once asked a vet if a pony could be diabetic. She thinks he's just such a pig that he also enjoys swallowing water. When he shared a field with his brother they drank a 30 gal. garbage can of water a day. After I swapped him out with another pony it dropped to about 10. I'm a little worried about taking him to a ride. If anybody ends up behind him he may drain all the streams! Any suggestions?
