Re: [RC] laid up for ride season - Joan Ruprecht

I have had a few smashes, Pelvis, wrist, ribs, collar bone, and I was
always back riding long before the Dr. recommended. it takes a healthy body
and a healthy attiutde and a caring horse.

Subject: [RC] laid up for ride season

Just had to whine.......and hopefully someone who has experienced similar
problems will be able to give me an up life that it will be better sooner
than all expect. It seems a year and half after going off a horse in for
training (not the horses fault but, the person riding the other horse who
launched herself when the other horse side stepped and he ran after the
green broke one I was on) and smashed the entire right side of my body.
Went to ER and they did Xrays of the ribs (I came up spitting blood)..and
even tho' I told them I was hurt on the whole right side including hip the
Dr. asked if I could move my leg...which I could. He said just bruised
and
didn't need to Xray. Well, 3 months later at the family Dr. I complained
about the hip still being somewhat swollen and sore....oh just bruised.
PRescribe Celebrex....didn't touch the discomfort. Anyhow, this year I
said
at times that hip still hurts...was told that arthritis will do that and
maybe I should give up the distance riding (NOT!!!!!!) This time the Dr.
humored me and took Xray (first one)....ha...I've been walking around with
a
fracture in the neck of the hip. Not only wlaking but, riding and
competing. YOu know if they tell you arthritis you keep it moving. Well,
now I'm going for a hip pinning on Mon. Told that it'll be 2
months...please someone out there tell me it might be a shorter recovery
thatn that.....!!! PLEASE !!!!! AND IF NOT ALL OF YOU WHO CAN RIDE....NO
MATTER WHAT ......RIDE and enjoy every minute of it!! and remember to have
FUN !!!! I did ride a 50 IAHA comp on my own homebred girl and had the
ride
of my life on her. She was soooooooo good all day that it was the best
B-day present that one could have asked for plus the bestest last ride of
the season for me. Ali took 3 Hwywt in UMECRA and 4th in the IAHA. I was
soooo proud and still am.

Mike has promised to keep my horses going for me....as Tyler was doing so
well this year in endurance. what a boy!!!

So remember ......ride for fun always first.....and be thankful for every
step you take with your horse.

Down in the dumps in Wisconsin....
