[RC] colic question - Pam JohnsonThe vet was just here for my 12 yr. old gelding. She treated him for a gas colic. He wasn't himself at the trail head after an hour and a half ride at 80°, had pooped on the trailer on the way home but none in the next two hrs., had low gut sounds, wasn't eating, very restless, pawing, rolling and then would get up, not his normal roll over and then back over again, no temp., pink gums, etc. She checked for an impaction and couldn't feel any as far as she could go so she gave him banamine and then tubed him with warm water and some oil. I asked if she would do blood work and she said not necessary. But I'm sorry now I didn't insist. Wouldn't a work-up help show me what had happened? He seems OK now. Eating hay but no manure as yet. Thanks so much! Pam in MA =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
