[RC] Anyone had experience with a 'calcified salivary gland'? - Alison Dunn

Last year I noticed a hard lump floating under the skin the the right side of Sorin's face just where the side strap of headgear comes down and where cavesson's cross over.  This year it got bigger (just over 1 inch long, about 1/2 wide, and over 1/2 tall) , and the headgear's straps rub on it.  He does a funny small flip with his head once in a while while being worked - even with no headgear on.  (Not the usual ay-rab head twirl.)  The vet diagnosed it as  a calcified salivary and said it should be removed as it's getting bigger.  (I was worried it might start pressing on nerves.)  When I spoke with Pioneer Equine about the surgery, they said they had to put him totally out for this operation, and that some complications in the area could happen.  Please let me know if anyone else has had experience with this.
