[RC] Vet phobia, gender bias - Lysane Cree

I understand the reasoning with suggesting using a
female vet, but I don't think in my case it might be
all that useful. Certainly, a female vet might have a
gentler more patient approach (maybe). But in my area
there is only one female vet and she is not always
available (clinic sends out whoever is on duty and
available), so my filly would have to deal with male
vets at some point. And if my filly is picking up on
the medicinal smell (as Sue pointed out to me), gender
wouldn't have an effect on her reaction. The
medicinal smell is a distinguishing feature of the vet
from other strangers. Just cause I think they smell
fine doesn't mean anything LOL:)

I guess the test would be to have the female vet come
out at some point for something that can be scheduled
and is not an emergency. Then I could see where to go
from there. I think I will do a test myself though and
see how my filly reacts. Any ideas on what I could get
on my coveralls to get it smelling like a vet.
Basically anything? :) I don't have a large stock of
medicine but I could see what people medicine I have
too. I feel siily, but hey, I'm willing to try just
about anything.
Lysane
