Well put. Perhaps I was not clear. I WAS being facetious. Just thought of
her and laughed when I read that adage. Kinda also like, "Now that you've
fallen off, you're a REAL rider." "Welcome to the club" might be more
appropriate.

I hate to interperate someone elses comment. That said, I'll do it
anyway. I think what the comment meant  as stated in the Kenny Rogers
song, "...  you have to know when to hold, you have to know when to fold
em......."  Just as the gambler had to be in tune with the game, the
endurance rider has to be in tune with his horse. Some times you will
need to pull. You might be able to ignore it a time or two and get away
with it, but then again it will catch up with you and when it does you
will rue the day to temped fate.
