Re: [RC] [RC] Guidelines for Trail Riding - Ridecamp Guest - A. PerezI don't know of a formal listm but here are the things I was taught at the various stables where I have ridden: 1. Maintain a safe following distance, at least one horse-length, preferably more. 2. When passing (either from ahead or behind) another rider, always let them know which side you are passing on ('On your left' or better yet 'On your left, PLEASE') and ALWAYS slow to a WALK (especially when passing from behind) and leave as much distance between your self and the horse you are passing as the trail allows. DO NOT gallop past other horses, especially on a narrow trail. 3. If you come upon someone letting their horse drink from a stream, wait until they are finished to cross. If they say to go ahead, try to cross down-stream if possible so as not to muddy the water upstream of them. 4. Try to keep the whooping and hollering to a minimum! 5. Be courteous: if you need to ask someone for anything, ask nicely. 6. If you see someone who appears to need help, ask if they need help, don't jump in without asking. Thats all I can think of off the top of my head as far as courtesty issues - there are tons more horse-safety issues, of course. Good luck! ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
