I have not seen this problem with the mares I've ridden, but I know my stallion used to hang on 68 forever if he had to pee. Two, a developing lameness issue. There is pain somewhere and it is showing up as an elevated heart rate. It would have been VERY beneficial to have had a CRI done on this horse.
