[RC] rabies - Jonni JewellRabies in horses is more common that I like to hear in Texas. I had a friend who used to send me the rabies reports from the state. Last year we had some cases of horses with rabies in our county. All our animals, horses, dogs, cats are vaccinated. Yes, skunks are a very common cause. From what I understand, often the way a horse gets it is that it will be eating something off the ground, and the rabid skunk bites the horse on the nose, to try to get it to move away from what ever it is eating.
