Re: [RC] BC award - Dot WigginsSince no one else responded I'll put in my 2 cents. Only the top ten are judged in order to compare more or less equal effort. There is a difference in the challenge of completing 50 miles in 5 hours and completing in the max time allowed. Most top tens finish less than a hour apart so the effort is somewhat the same. Slower times lose a lot of points, rarely win BC, but do have a good chance at high vet score. Does that help your question? ----- Original Message ----- From: "lisa oberteuffer" <volta@xxxxxxxx> To: <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, May 30, 2003 11:42 AM Subject: [RC] BC award hey guys, probably a dumb question--but I've never seen the rationale for BC anywhere ... why IS it just for the top 10 finishers? that does seem like it kind of rewards the "race" part of the ride. one of you fast people is already going to WIN the thing--why not open up BC to everyone and let the slow people hope for something besides the turtle award? :) hey, you could always have 2nd and 3rd ribbons just like a "regular" horse show ... heretical, I know--and slightly facetious--but I *am* curious. so why only BC for the top 10? I await your wisdom and historical knowledge lisa in santa fe (still trying to complete a LD within time! that's how slow I am ...) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
