Re: [RC] [RC] leading from in front - Jim HollandThis is a respect issue....horses need to learn to stay out of your space. I wrote a couple of articles for the SERA Newsletter on how to teach this...WORD format....if you would like to have them, email me privately. Jim, Sun of Dimanche, and Mahada Magic "A. Perez" wrote: My bargy TWH gelding used to run me over and drag me around. I tried tapping him on the chest with a crop (and smacking, when taps failed to work), but it really didn't help. What worked - almost miraculously- is something I read in a Pat Parelli book: 'snaking' the lead line: basically sending loops down the lead-line by whipping it (ala 'crack the whip') whenever he invaded my space until he backed up a few steps. No I can stop dead, and back up, and Cy backs away from me and respects my space. Worked great! ________________________________________________ Get your own "800" number Voicemail, fax, email, and a lot more http://www.ureach.com/reg/tag =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
