Re: [RC] Susan G.\ vets ?nutrition and EPM - Susan GarlinghouseI agree with Heidi's comments and would also add a carotene source for vitamin A, another important antioxidant often in short supply. There are lots of synthetic sources available, but none as good as five pounds of fresh carrots. He is on the old meds this week (anti-maliarial, and sulfa drug)tillI get the Marquis from Smartpak next tue.Yes, definitely. A probiotic is always in order any time anyone (two-legged or four) is on antibiotic therapy. Vitamins E and C are antioxidants important in dealing with inflamation and in the immune process. I'd go easy on the C (don't megadose) but the E can be given in very large quantities. I'd also add selenium to the list, as well as folic acid (B12). The former is likewise important as an antioxidant, and the latter is important in neurological function and is often deficient in EPM patients.
