Be very careful with bungie ties??.no matter what they claim they do
BREAK! I've had a weanling pop one (granted that one had been out in the
sun all summer) and an adult break a new one. I still think the best
thing for a hard puller is an inner tube. If you do not have one go to a
tire place. You can get a punctured one very cheap (many times
free). Tie the tube to the post and tie the horse to the tube. It
gives, but I've never had one break?..or heard of one breaking (but I'm sure
someone out there has sometime LOL). I've also heard of tying a loop
around the girth area, running the rope through the forelegs??then through the
halter ring and tie that. That way there is more pressure on the girth
area and not the head. Personally I've never tired this so I can not say
how it works. But I've seen it in books. I wouldn't use a bungie on
anything but a well trained horse that will stand tied already.
On another note, I love the bungie tie that is made for cross-tying.
It is a perfect length to use for a horse on a tie-line. Long enough they
can lay down and graze, but not so long to tangle around the legs. And the
bungie in them gives some stretch if needed.
JMHO for what it is worth. <grin>

Have a horse that doesn't like being tied, but is
learning.....in the meantime....he seems to do well on a tie line between
trees, where he can move around without the immediate and final limitations
typical tying does.....He'll tie at the trailer, pull back once, scare
himself then stand still, but remains very frightened......
So I am thinking the bungee thing might be a
solution......Your thoughts will be appreciated..... Jeannie
