Never having ridden a fast horse, I wouldn't know. :)) I've had people argue with me that sponging doesn't help in high humidity and I know they're wrong. I remember a vet at a hot humid ride touching my horse and looking sort of funny, then saying, "this is the first horse that's been in that was cool to the touch".
