wonder if you rub behind their ears the deer flies would leave? I have the hardest time with those deer flies.I put lots o fspray there w/vinager when we ride. . . maybe i should just rub w/garlic.. .
I am trying fly parasites this year going to order them 3 mos. apart, monthly is to expensive. laurie/onehand

Hello, We have been using Garlic for two years now in the bug infested SE, we buy it from Sam's Club, the granulated version. We have noticed a huge reduction in all the flies, gnats and other horse harassing insects, so much so that we(the humans) take garlic, too. From personal experience it does help, still get the occasional mosquito bite, and the deer flies which just cropped out last week will still get on the horses ears but I think there is a huge benefit from the Italian smelling horses. We are feeding 40 odd head and the garlic from Sam's is the cheapest, I think we paid a total of 24 dollars for 6 pounds which lasts about 6 weeks.
