Re: [RC] [RC] Horse size -- was Rios brother - Laurie DurginSure he was 7? Unless you have papers... (even then)?I had 2 ponies and 2 horses that were "creatively aged"(2 we found by tatoos)(one freeze branded)(others were teeth and vets).i read that arabs teeth out younger often, draft horses older than norm. Same with height. We finally borrrowed a stick with a level, in the garage, our 16.3 was 16.1, our 16.1 was 15.3. Also where they are measured makes a difference. About mounting. There is a "thingamajig" that you put in your stirrup(easyup?) and can carry with you. There is also one that fits on a western horn(it is just a stirrup on a nylon strap with a loop for horn). Then you could do what english riders do(if your horse will let you, not Rascal, stand is not in his vocabulary). They let a stirruup down a couple holes, mount, then rehole the stirrup. You can do this with english, wintec, or biothane leathers. I always use a mounting stool in ring, a rock, depresssion, log, or once I had a nice chair and bucket on the trail someone left for me.And he is only 14.2.5, but we have the rotund, saddle roll problem(all saddles ,just about). Laurie and Rascal p.s. there is always "stilts":} From: "Barbara McCrary" <bigcreekranch@xxxxxxxxxx> To: <RhndLev@xxxxxx>, <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: Re: [RC] Horse size -- was Rios brother Date: Fri, 25 Apr 2003 21:55:58 -0700 _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses.
