Re: [RC] Never lose your easyboot again... - Barbara McCrary
I use dog collars around the pasterns
of amenable horses. They don't rip off as Velcro would. If the
Velcro rips off when the boot is pulled off, there is no advantage in having the
keeper at all, in my mind. But it is essential you try this on a horse
that won't mind having an EZ boot flapping around his pastern. I have one
horse now that would panic with a loose EZ boot. He's convinced that
anything under his feet is a snake, out to get him. His halter rope
came untied one time and he backed up all over the place with this large blue
snake chasing him every step. I just let him work it out for himself and
he finally stopped. But I wouldn't trust him yet. He'd do it
again.....

Somebody on RC awhile back suggested just using a
couple of dog collars from Wal-mart. I haven't tried that because I have a
freaky horse that I need to train to accept those sorts of things and I
haven't done that yet. But sounds like a great idea. The dog collars are cheap
and readily available.
