Re: [RC] [RC] What can you tell me about Tennessee Walkers and other gaited breeds? - Laurie Durgin

I've ridden with 'racking" horses and TW and Rascal has to trot to keep up with their gaits, and when they really 'rack on" he has to trot really fast or canter. Laurie

Karen,

I have Tennessee Walkers in addition to Cleveland Bays. When I ride a
Walker with a non-gaited horse, the non-gaited have to work harder to keep
up. Your husband might be able to ride at a walk while you trot -- there is
that much stride difference. When going on conditioning rides, my
experience is that the non-gaited just has to work harder to keep up. Watch
*your* horse very closely.

It will be interesting to see how the TWHxCBs travel in relation to other
breeds... The first one is in training now... y'all better watch out.
