Re: [RC] RE:Body questions - CharlesYou might want to read the article in The Horse on carnivorous horses. I think it was last October they had an article on meat eating horses. The current issue has a follow up on the article. The cover has a horse chowing down on a bucket of KFC. Also, they mention Icelandic horses eating frozen salted fish in the winters. Charles PS: Sorry I don't have the article numbers. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joan Ruprecht" <jruprecht@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Tina Hicks" <tina@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>; "Ridecamp" <ridecamp@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Cc: "lyn dunbar" <dunbar@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, April 22, 2003 11:03 AM Subject: Re: [RC] RE:Body questions If oatmeal does that to humans, does oats do the same to horses. Does and of the processing make a difference, rolled crimped, cooked, whole ? Joan Subject: Re: [RC] RE:Body questions Oatmeal has a fairly high glycemic index - meaning it causes a sugar spike and subsequent drop. I used to eat oatmeal too in the AM till my crew made me stop :) When I was at the convention listening to Susan talk about carbohydrates and how we don't want them to do the spike/crash scenario I remember thinking...too bad we can't just feed our horses some cheese and meat :) =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
