I also HIGHLY recommend volunteering to help mark and clear trail for a ride 
nearby.  INCREDIBLE training at walking, stopping, mounting, dismounting, 
following on the ground, being calm as the brush goes flying, lol, and so 
forth.  Besides, what ride managers don't appreciate the help?  :o)
