[RC] Where to give shots - butt is the way to go! - Sarah WI give the shots in the butt too, and its much easier! I have a gelding that will throw a fit having his shots anywhere else, probably because he's had stiff reactions before, so the butt is the easiest place for me. Its actually how most of the people that I know give their shots. While I understand why some vets (who don't want to get their teeth kicked in by strange horses) use the neck. The butt has MUCH bigger muscles, fewer "other structures" (like no nuchal ligament) to hit by accident, and the but muscles get used more so the vaccine will purfuse to the tissue better. I have never had any horse show any signs of discomfort from a vaccine in the butt (granted, not that many horses and not that many vaccines).
