I'm way behind, so if someone mentioned this already, just ignore this. The best stuff I've found simply called "silicone based water repellent". Got it at Wal-Mart -- in the camping section, next to the bug spray -- hard to find if you don't know where to look. One can will do the rain sheet twice, or a winter blanket and it only costs about $2.50.
