If your horse is found to have a detectable amount, there will be an inquiry and you will have to defend yourself with all the publicity that goes with it. Not a situation anyone wants to be in. I surely do not be known as a suspected, horse druger. There are shorter acting anti-inflamatory drugs available from vets. The problem (and the good part) of bute is it hangs around for a long time and requires fewer doses. The archives have many discussions about the drug rule and its implications. Myself, I am very very careful to never have any anxieties when the testing vet shows up at a ride. I seem to live right and have had my horse tested 3 times in the last 5 years.
